In the European Union there is a widening skills and employment gap in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) sector. By 2025, it is estimated that, there will be 7 million unfilled jobs. In order to develop a skilled STEM workforce & meet industrial demands, we must engage our female population by overcoming barriers to entry and hence, increase their involvement within the sector.
The aim of our project is to identify the factors that distinguish between SMEs that have embraced equality and diversity in the workplace and those who have not. Specifically, the project aims to identify effective interventional strategies for improving gender equality in organisations at various stages of engagement.
